The LGBTQ+ Identity Debate No One Wants to Talk About

Watch the full conversation with my mama here.

Here’s a little quote from my mom (Darshana Patel) to give you some insight:

“What I heard you touching on is this idea of the mimetic phenomenon- we’re like copy-paste; that’s how humans learn. It’s how babies learn, right? They see something and mimic it. It’s a natural human tendency- taking on aspects of others’ identities and making them our own- because that’s how we figure out what fits us.

But in a society that doesn’t take the time to be truly self-aware, grounded in self, and connected to source, it becomes copy-paste, copy-paste all day. Then you have a society that knows how to harness that energy of ‘This is who I am, you must see me and respect me.’ Every group gains momentum, which can then be hijacked into activism. And that’s when it gets prescribed into certain movements within the collective, until individuals forget the why behind it and lose sight of the root.”
