UNWANTED WISH (haikus)

(Basically Jazmine Sullivan’s “One Night Stand,” told in three haikus.)

Ephemeral flame 

Eternal heat, only to 

Feel, but never speak 

On what the moon gleams 

But the sun leaves cold on sheets 

A fantasized dream. 

Her ambition’s deceased 

When the prayer’s put to peace

Warmth defined through breeze.
